I've 8 hilly acres in TN +-2 acres of mowing, mostly wooded lot with full arena, large garden, horses, some tree removal, landscaping, and hauling cut trees up hill to the house. Folks that I've talked with recommend 27-35hp. However, I've found a 1996 LB1914 with 77 hrs on it, finish mower, carry all, boom pole, 5'box, scrapper blade, and turf tires all for $7000. At this price I could buy a FEL and have a good first tractor. BUT, is this little guy goning to be enough tractor for my needs? The first caveat from other tractor owners is to never be under powered for the job! Thoughts?

I bought a LB1914 w/fel last month to replace my tired 8n. Been using the loader to clear trees and brush from the ice storm in Dec. It works great for me. It will move 20" dia oak logs cut 54" (width of bucket) no problem. One issue might be the turf tires. I got r4 tires and traction is limited in 2wd. However pull back in 4wd and it goes great. Hope this helps. ....

I have been using a JD 4100 (similar size and power)for jobs just like that for almost two years now and it does all the stuff you mention just fine.

The only place you will notice a lack of power would be if you want to run PTO implements that require more than 17 horses to run. For example: a 60 inch brush hog(it will run a 48 incher), a 12 KW generator, a hay baler and other power intensive stuff.

Check some of the dealers on the internet for new prices on a 1914 to compare your used price to, to see if it appears fair in that light.

With the really low gears on this model, the manual transmission and proper ballasting, your will be amazed how much weight it will move.

Hey, thanks for the good insight! Another thing that I forgot to mention is the 200+ posts that I need set for a new fence. I like the idea of the smaller tractor for manuverability and with the extras, the price is good. With the lack of posts on Kiotis, it's hard to tell how reliable this 1996 model is going to be. Any issues?
Thanks ....

The model has been around for a while. My brother in-law has had one for about 15 years. I don't believe has had any problems but it does not have many hours on it. ....

FWIW, one just went on Ebay...96/97 Lb1914, 500 hours, KL102 loader, 3 pt carry-all, rear scraper blade, 5 ft rotary mower, single axle trailer with 2 winches. It sold for its "buy it now" price of $7300. Was located in Virginia. ....
